An Overview

Welcome to the Naugle Co. website. Naugle Home Building and Remodeling is one of Columbia's oldest and most reliable remodeling firms. We are a 2nd and 3rd generation family business.

Naugle Co. has been building and remodeling homes in the Mid-Missouri area for over 40 years. We have completed thousands of new home remodels, improvements, and repair projects.

Our philosophy and mission has earned us thousands of satisfied home owners and has produced high value, reasonably priced projects that will stand the test of time.

Naugle Family History

A tribute to my mother, Grace Alma (Stahl) Naugle. Her influence inspired my career in home building and remodeling.
                 
Being of Pennsylvania Dutch, Mennonite decent, Grace raised 12 children while tending a kitchen garden, hot beds and berry patches, along with canning, milking and other suburban truck farm duties of the day. She attended Church, PTA, and sewing club while taking time to comfort neighbors and take care of her (hobby) business of raising cut flowers. The one myth about her is that she pulled the plow when the horse was lame….OH, those neighbors! She did occasionally help pull a hand cultivator. With all these tasks Grace found time to read the home magazines of the day, dreaming about the way her home could be. With my Father’s “10 thumbs”, although green, Graces’ dreams were entirely up to her.

During my childhood Grace enlisted my older brothers and became her own general contractor, even performing some of the work herself. Projects she completed were a vestibule, dormer and sun porch additions, new roofing, patio with stone BBQ pit, a rental duplex, and a complete bathroom remodel. And finally, kitchen and living room remodeling plus new siding.

Three of Graces’ sons became builders and two became Nurserymen.  I started working in construction full time summers and Saturdays in 1954. Although Grace never built for the public, I feel it quite fair to consider her the 1st Generation contractor.

I put the final finishes on my mother’s last three projects in the years after her untimely death. In those years, with my mothers influence and values, I painted a picture of how I wanted my future family and work life to be. I have lived and continue to live that life......yes, I still enjoy picking up a hammer or trowel.

Today my wife Edith and two of our sons, Gary, Jr and Shawn work with me in the business. My sons soon will take the reins…..I am confident that I have passed Graces’ values on to them.

THE TEAM

Naugle Co. has over 200 years of combined experience.

Gary Naugle, Sr.(S.R.), President and  Founder of  the company is the general manager of 55 years and a 2nd generation builder and remodeler. Gary remodeled for and during his military service, worked in the remodeling and building industry as a contractor in the St. Louis area, then to Mid-Missouri in 1969. He is also a licensed real estate broker and a certified remodeler.

Edith Naugle, Secretary, Treasurer is the office manager of 47 years. Her skills include office management, accounting, job costs and customer service. She is also a licensed real estate broker.

Gary Naugle, Jr. (J.R.), 1st Vice President, is the senior production manager and estimator of 33 years. His skills include trade work, design, estimating, production management and trouble shooting.

Shawn Naugle , Assistant Secretary and Vice President is the comptroller and new home production manager of 23 years. His skills include trade work, business and production management, accounting, job costing and design. Shawn holds a B.S. in Accounting from university of Missouri

Mike McMillen, Vice President is a production manager and estimator of 29 years. He has skills in the trades, design, estimating and production management. With a B.S. in  Communications and Advertising from S.E. MO State University, Mike is also a notary public and a certified lead renovator and remodeler.

David Brockhouse, Vice President is an estimator and realtor of 17 years. His skills include trade work, design, estimating and real estate sales. Dave holds a B.S. in Marketing and Advertising from Emporia State University,Kansas.

Experience Turned to Qualifications

The Naugle Co has experienced the time proven solutions, methods and materials. We have become accomplished in the knowledge of how all the parts and pieces of a home, from footing to roof cap, fit and work together to support and protect your home.

With this experience we have compiled “experience engineered total craftsmanship” specifications, methods and details for the critical aspects of a home. These are included with the purchase order along with all the needed documentation to protect the home owner and convey clear communication between the owner and Naugle Co. for the successful outcome of the project.

Our experience has allowed us to accumulate a list of thousands of customers/project references. Someone you know will be on the list.

Our attitude on a project is that we are working for any future owners of a home, as well as the current owner. We desire to pass our quality on to all of them. Our experience enables us to remain in business to meet these obligations and to perform on the best written, transferable warrantee in the area.
